My Story

Hello and welcome

Team Subaru WRC Replica return for the fifth time to fundraise for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. This time the car will be crewed by JOHN HANNAN main driver and SIMON MORGAN returning to take on the challenge/adventure again.

SSAFA was founded in 1885 by Sir James Gildea with Queen Victoria as Patron, and since then the charity has shown commitment to ensuring that the UK’s service men and women, veterans and their families get the best possible support when they need it.

The first county to embrace the organisation was Kent through The Kent Committee and by the end of its first year, an additional committee had been set up in the Kent naval town of Chatham on the River Medway, the location of Henry VIII’s Royal Dockyard.

We both live in Kent, in adjacent villages on the River Medway.

John drives a HGV working in the asphalt industry whilst Simon is a consultant in the tunnelling world, and through the auspices of SSAFA, we are proud to continue the county’s tradition of pioneering the support for our service men and women and their families, whether they be active personnel or veterans.

With the aim of raising a minimum of £100,000,as a combined group, starting from Dunkirk in France, “A Driving Force for SSAFA” will see the team travel through France, Switzerland,Slovenia,Croatia,Bosnia,Austria,Germany and Belgium.A trip of 11 days in duration and almost 3000 miles along some of Europe’s best driving roads (driving 5 miles for every fallen serviceman and woman during and after the Afghan conflict).

Costs for the tour will be covered by us including the wear and tear on the car which is a one off replica of a Subaru WRC which Richard Burns won the WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP in and owned by John!

Of greater importance, we aim to raise a MINIMUM of £1,500 towards the grand total for SSAFA. We’re therefore asking for your help in achieving this and you can be assured that if you choose to donate, 100% will go to SSAFA.

Please take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices and hardships that our service personnel and their families have made and endured and continue to endure. Please donate whatever you can to help us help them improve their lives.

Many thanks

John and Simon
