  • About

SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, has been providing lifelong support to our Forces and their families since 1885. In 2019, our dedicated team of volunteers and staff helped more than 85,000 people, from Second World War veterans to young men and women who have served in more recent conflicts.

Over the last 5 years, ADS has supported the Armed Forces community by raising almost £50,000 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Unfortunately, ADS was unable to host their annual dinner this year due to the pandemic which is usually a great fundraising moment for SSAFA.

SSAFA is asking for your support so that they can continue providing lifelong support to members of the Armed Forces community like this single mother:

SSAFA was approached by a single mother with three small children. She left the Army after 11 years of service when her marriage broke down. She was unable to make ends meet and had accumulated rent arrears and utility debts.

She needed to move from Army accommodation to a new home elsewhere in the UK. SSAFA provided her with one month’s rent and essential white/brown goods, plus bedding to help her and her family set themselves up in their new home.

The single mother is now starting a university course and has found work to help her provide for her family.

Did you know that:

£7.50 could cover the cost of one call to Forcesline, SSAFA's confidential helpline

£15 could help a veteran pay their heating bill this spring

£23 could provide essential groceries for a military family during their stay at one of our support homes
