My Story
Hello all - So now I am taking on the 80th anniversary D-Day Ride 24 for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. Please help me reach my target of £1,950 and support our Armed Forces community!
The 06 Jun 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of Op OverLord, the day in which in 1944 the largest seaborne invasion and associated airborne operations heralded the beginning of the end of WWII. A force was put together involving 13 nations and approximately 5000 vessels carrying more than 130,000 troops.
50% of the UK’s financial workforce went to fight in WWII whilst the remainder carried on supporting the UK’s finances. As such and in memory of all who served the UKAF rugby Ambassador and now Barclays Bank employee Doc Cox will join cyclists attempting to honour those that paid the ultimate sacrifice by completing a route encompassing the significant beaches and land marks that was Operation Overlord, commencing in France 06 Jun 2024, DDays Aniversary. A distance of approximately 250miles to be covered in just three days, during which he will lay a wreath in respect to his fellow Barclays former work colleagues.
